AP Congress demands judicial inquiry in Gade Sai Krishna case
Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) vice-president and in-charge of administration Kolanukonda Shivaji on Thursday demanded a judicial inquiry into the disappearance and suspected death of Gade Sai Krishna from Krishnalanka police station limits.
Speaking to the media, Mr Shivaji said the government’s decision to suspend the circle inspector in question and order an inquiry into the disappearance at the IAS level was a welcome move, “but only a judicial inquiry can deliver justice and restore public confidence,” he insisted.
Mr. Shivaji demanded registration of an FIR under the charge of murder and immediate prosecution of all officials responsible for negligence or misconduct. He said an internal police investigation would lack credibility, particularly because of allegations that authorities ignored repeated pleas from the victim’s family and tried to suppress the issue.
Mr. Shivaji disputed the claims made before the Supreme Court regarding the large-scale search operations, saying attempts were made to deflect the issue through caste narratives. He reiterated his demand for a judicial inquiry led by a judge or judicial magistrate, a fast-track trial and the suspension of all officials connected to the case, including senior police officers.
Talking about other recent incidents of alleged police excesses, he cited cases of the reported death of an MRPS leader’s son and another youth in a gambling-related case, both allegedly linked to police action.
