Members of Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry Federation (AP Chambers) called on Indigo Airlines on Thursday to run direct flights from Vijayawady to Dubai and Singapore.
The AP Chambers P. Bhaskar Rao, while interacting with the Indigo Airlines team, led by Associate Director of Sales (southern India) Saurabh Sachdev, emphasized the immense potential to run direct flights from Vijayawady to international destinations.
Mr. Baskar thanked the airlines official for the operation of direct flights from Vijayawady to Kurnool and said that Vijayawada and its surroundings have, among other things He remembered that in front of Pandemia, Indigo operated direct flights from Vijayawady to Singapore with more than 80% occupancy.
“When industrial activities rose in the Amaravati region, Vijayawada Airport witnessed an increase in personal traffic by 30,000-40,000. Most Vijayawady flights now work with a 80%load factor,” Bhaskar Rao said.
He also applied for a larger aircraft, such as Airbus or Boeing, because they have the ability to carry two to three tons of abdominal cargo and Vijayawada airport is equipped with a necessary infrastructure for dealing with such aircraft. Currently, most aircraft operated by Indigo from Vijayawady are small aircraft.
Mr. Baskar Rao asked new routes with direct flights to destinations such as Vijayawad-Varanasi, Vijayawada-Ahmedabad or Sur and Vijayawada-Kokata via Visakhapatnam.
He also wanted officials to explore the Code sharing agreement for Vijayawady flights to make it easier for passenger reservation, efficient luggage transfers and better interconnection to the main international destinations.
The Director of the Indigo Associate for AP and Telangana BVB Chary and Sales Manager for AP Mohit Krishna also took part in the discussion.
