The election of Andhra Pradesh Bar Council members is scheduled to take place on February 13 from 10:30 am to 5:00 pm, according to Bar Council Secretary B. Padmalatha.
She said the elections would be held in 149 polling stations across the state under the supervision of a high-powered committee constituted by the Supreme Court. The committee appointed retired Andhra Pradesh High Court judge AV Sesha Sai as the returning officer.
After the bifurcation of the state, a separate Andhra Pradesh Bar Council election was held in Hyderabad in 2018. The current election is the second after them.
Approximately 40,000 advocates are eligible to exercise their right to vote and 146 nominations have been submitted by candidates, of which 143 have been found valid after due scrutiny.
After the voting process is over, counting of votes will start at HC on February 16 at 10:30 am.
