Former Lokayukta N. Santosh Hegde said any move by the state government to ban the RSS would be unconstitutional and would boomerang.
Speaking to presspersons in Dharwad on Friday, Mr. Hegde said that if the Congress government bans the RSS, the BJP will resort to banning the Congress itself when it returns to power in the state.
Mr Hegde said it was not legally possible to ban the RSS as the Constitution gave everyone the right to form organisations.
He said that now that Congress is in power, they are talking about banning RSS and BJP will take revenge and ban Congress when it comes back to power in the state. The blame game will continue, as is common in politics, he added.
