He boarded the train at 5:10 to avoid the crowds and remained in his carriage until the last moment. On board, he mostly stayed in the top bunk, dressed in a cap, face mask, and full-sleeved T-shirt, and rested quietly the entire trip.Despite his caution, Dube was almost recognized when a ticket inspector spotted his berth and asked, “Shivam Dube? Who is this, the cricketer?” Thinking quickly, his wife reassured the staff, “No, no. Where would he come from?” and turned his attention away.Dube’s stature soared after India’s World Cup victory. In eight innings, he amassed 235 runs at a strike of 169.06, playing key cameos that kept the team going. Already a contributor to India’s 2024 campaigns, Dube has emerged as one of the unsung heroes of the 2026 title series, cementing his reputation as a reliable and impressive all-rounder.
