Indian selectors meet the Asian Cup 2025 on the horizon to choose a strong group for the continental tournament because Asian giants are heading for the action as champions. Among the few names that appeared for the selection are SHUBMAN GILL between the front runs to return to the T20i side.
Fresh from India’s leadership to 2-2 series in the test series of five matches against England, Gill’s Actoles has grown rapidly in the last few months. He led from the front throughout the series and ended up as a leading runner across the runbie. Gill’s fertile running and cunning leadership attracted the eyes of the selector and became part of the discussion to return the T20.
Gill last played T20i in Sri Lanka, where he was also appointed new vice president of the team in both white ball formats. During Zimbabwe after the T20 World Cup, he auditioned on his lead and led India to win the 4-1 series.
As the discussion about Gill’s comeback begins again, questions have been raised in the current India T20i settings. So far, Gill has played 21 T20is and scored 578 runs on average 30.42 and a strike of 139.27 with a hundred and three 1950s.
Its strike IPL also reads the same (138,71) with 3866 runs from 115 shifts on average 39,44. While Gill has impressive numbers in his T20 career, it may not be ideal in the current Indian T20i settings. Since Suryakumar Yadav was handed over to the T20is leadership, he continued his same philosophy since his predecessor Rohit Sharma, because the young party burned with a fearless approach.
Can Gill get off your T20 game?
