HUSNABAD (Siddipet)
Reiterating that the Congress government filled 60,000 seats in the first year of its rule, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said another 40,000 seats would be filled soon to reach the one lakh mark within two and a half years of the completion of Praja Palana (Congress rule) in Telangana.
He was addressing a public meeting at Husnabad in Siddipet district on Wednesday evening where he laid foundation stones for various development works worth around ₹262 crore. These include the spacious building of the newly established College of Engineering, Satavahana University, to be constructed at an estimated cost of ₹ 44.12 crore at Husnabad.
He said the previous BRS government had betrayed the aspirations of the unemployed youth and imposed bad governance on the state.
The Congress government has endeared itself to the youth and all sections of the society by introducing a plethora of welfare schemes, he added.
Kasoju Srikantha Chary sacrificed his life for the cause of a separate Telangana during the statehood agitation, he recalled and reaffirmed the commitment of the Congress government to empower the youth and create employment opportunities for them to fulfill his (Chary’s) ideals. Industrial Training Centers (ITIs) have been upgraded to Advanced Technology Centers (ATCs) to enhance the skills of the youth and make them job ready, he noted.
Citing the legacy of Sarvai Papanna, a great warrior of the 17th century, he said the Bahujan leader rebelled against feudal power and defended the rights of oppressed sections. “This is the country where the foundation for Bahujan Rajyam was laid under the leadership of Sarvai Papanna,” he noted.
“The people of Karimnagar district played a key role in achieving Telangana statehood. Our leader Sonia Gandhi promised Telangana statehood during a public meeting in Karimnagar in 2004 and fulfilled it in 2014, making a six-decade-old dream of the people of Telangana come true.”
“Today I met Ms. Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi and invited her to the Telangana Rising Global Summit to be held on December 8-9 in Hyderabad,” he said, adding that Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have also been invited to the mega event.
Mr. Reddy said, “Despite being in power for almost 10 years, the BRS rulers have failed to complete the Gouravelli project in Husnabad constituency and our government is determined to complete the project expeditiously.”
The Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project, created with the previous BRS permit, has lapsed, while the SRSP and other irrigation projects built by successive Congress governments decades ago continue to serve farmers and help the state achieve record rice production.
“It is imperative to elect leaders with determination in the next Gram Panchayat elections to initiate development in our villages,” he said.
Minister for Social Welfare of Backward Classes Ponnam Prabhakar also spoke.
