Announcement of rural polls likely around December 15, says Satish Jarkiholi

The local rural polls are likely to be announced around December 15, Minister Satish Jarkiholi said on Monday.

He told reporters that the announcement for the Zilla Panchayat and Taluk Panchayat elections is expected around the second week of December.

The winter session of the state legislature at the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha in Belagavi has been postponed to ensure that it does not interfere with the election process. It was also advanced because lawmakers need to focus on their constituencies and election campaigns, he said.
