Annamayya district approves ₹2 crore for 90 drinking water projects

The Annamayya district administration has approved 90 projects at an estimated cost of ₹ 2 crore to address the problem of drinking water shortage, including new borewells, pumps and pipelines, Mandipalli Transport, Sports and Youth Services Minister Ramprasad Reddy told the media in Madanapalle on Monday (September 7, 2026).

The minister said the work would be taken up in six mandals, Chinnamandem, Galiveedu, Lakkireddipalli, Ramapuram, Rayachoti and Sambepalli, due to the receding water table in several rural areas.

Galiveedu has been allotted 20 guns at a cost of ₹44 lakh, Lakkireddipalli has 21 guns at an estimated ₹44.60 lakh, Ramapuram has 19 guns at a cost of ₹47.30 lakh, Sambepalli has 17 guns at a cost of ₹36.30 lakh, Chinnamandem has six guns at a cost of ₹111 lakh. Rayachoti has seven guns for ₹ 16.10 lakh.

Mr. Ramaprasad Reddy said the projects include drilling new wells, installing engines, strengthening existing drinking water systems, replacing damaged equipment and laying pumps and pipelines. Work has already started in Kondavandlapalli-Chittluru gram panchayat and Vandadi areas of Ramapuram mandal.

He said he urged District Collector Nishanth Kumar to sanction the works using DMF (District Mineral Foundation) trust funds or other available grants to solve drinking water problems in the constituency.
