BJP leader K. Annamalai on Saturday slammed Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Speaker M. Appava for his “terrorist” remarks against Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi.
In a post on X, he wrote: “Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Speaker Thiru Appavu has stooped to the extent of calling the Honorable Governor of Tamil Nadu Thiru RN Ravi a ‘terrorist’ just for pointing out the alarming rise in terror-related incidents under the DMK government…”
Annamalai further highlighted various chilling incidents that have rocked the state in recent years, including the 2022 Coimbatore suicide bombing and security breaches of BJP offices and premises by PFI criminals. He also highlighted the NIA’s crackdown on several inbred terrorist outfits in Tamil Nadu.
“Has Thiru Appavu forgotten the horrific suicide bombing in Coimbatore in 2022? Has he forgotten the petrol bombs hurled at BJP offices and premises of BJP functionaries by PFI goons? Does he ever check the NIA’s press statements on cracking down on deep-rooted terror modules in Tamil Nadu in the last few years?” he claimed.
The BJP leader also recalled the funeral procession of 1998 Coimbatore blast mastermind Basha and said he was given a “martyr’s farewell” with “tight police protection” during the funeral.
“While the people of TN continue to suffer due to the government’s failure to provide a safe environment, the mastermind of the 1998 Coimbatore blast, terrorist Basha, was shockingly accorded a martyr’s farewell, complete with tight police security for his funeral procession,” he wrote on X.
The remarks follow M Appav’s comment on Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi where he cited him as the “only terrorist” in the state, stressing that there is no terrorism in Tamil Nadu.
Speaking to the media, when M Appavu was asked about the governor’s statement highlighting law and order concerns and claims of terrorists entering the state, M Appavu said, “The only terrorist is him, there are no other terrorists…This is his mindset…”
“He is referring to himself when he talks about a terrorist; there is no one else…There is no terrorism in this state…and there are no law and order problems…He is just hoping that terrorism will emerge here, that’s all…” he added.
