Annamalai blames the BJP government. at the center of enemy production to stay relevant
We The Leaders founder K. Annamalai on Wednesday said the BJP government at the Center has forgotten that it has been in power for more than 12 years and is still making enemies to remain relevant.
In a lengthy post on X, Mr. Annamalai, former Tamil Nadu BJP president, raised a series of questions about the Centre’s handling of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) protest in New Delhi.
Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement in 2011 when he was Gujarat chief minister that “if his hands were not tied, he would have gone to Delhi and waged war against the central government”, in response to a police crackdown on a peaceful anti-corruption campaign at Ramlila Maidan, Mr Annamalai opined that “absolutely right Mr Modlila”.
“Today, you could be jailed indefinitely, your sureties could be refused and strangely enough, a special executive judge will be circling you when he is empowered to deal with remand cases. If you question the violation of due process in a democracy, you will be named and there would be a wave of attacks, including being labeled as a foreign agent,” Mr Annamala said.
According to him, he has faced “constant attacks” ever since he asked the Center to deal with the anti-NEET protesters. He said he let it pass and continued to focus on the issues in Tamil Nadu. “I also enjoyed it in a way because it would quickly remove the label of being a BJP B team and being sent to Tamil Nadu as Dhurandhar,” he said.
Mr. Annamalai alleged that ever since he started questioning the methods adopted by the Delhi Police to detain the CJP protesters, “attacks” against him had resumed.
“To some in the BJP, let me make this categorically clear, in case you have selective amnesia: I left the BJP on June 5, 2026…I may not agree with the CJP’s tactics and I think many of them are misguided. But if you ask me if they have a right to oppose or if they have a right to oppose or would they think they do or do they protest on any issue?” he said.
Referring to the recent incident in which an effigy of a cockroach was burnt as part of Dusshera celebrations, Mr. Annamalai said, “Out of curiosity, I tried to find out who was providing this free publicity at the national level. No surprise. It was led by BJP MLA, Ashok Goel. My question is again: does the BJP want the opposition for free? to split votes by making the CJP a bigger player. At this rate, the CJP could not have asked for a better PR team, even for him she paid!”
He also said, “Frankly speaking, it is very tiring and boring to see all the protests and statements against the central government being labeled as anti-national and funded by outside forces.”
