University Anna has launched a process of postgraduate (PG) courses “restructuring” that have poor students’ sponsorship. At least 10 programs where students registration decreased to less than half of the sanctioned force will be suspended in their current form, without changing the overall sanctioning force, Hindu university sources said.
This will mean that these programs will either be merged with other popular PG courses and the sanctioned force will be transferred to these courses, or the programs will be suspended and the strength to higher education (UG) will increase. This is planned by not changing the overall income of students.
Consultations with different departments and parties are underway. Upon adoption of consensus, the university submits a proposal before the approval of the Congress Committee.
On the example, the university clerk said that the computer engineering program of ME (CSE) was offered with a sanctioned force of 24 students, while another ME CSE program (Specialization in Big Data Analytics) had a penalty of 12. Made and manufactured and made and made and manufactured and manufactured and manufactured and manufactured and created and made in harmony and manufactured and manufactured, and manufactured, and manufactured in accordance with the data group and machine faith, and produced in accordance and machine age, and the reality/virtual reality. These programs, the clerk said.
Similarly, in the Master’s program in leather technology, offered by the Central Leather Research Institute, which has a sanctioned force of 24 students, only two students and three previous students have entered last year. Sources said it could be due to abundant locations available for college students. The new proposal seeks to sanction six seats for PG course and at the same time increase income at a higher education level by about 15%.
M.Tech in Ocean Technology, offered by the Ministry of Building Engineering, can also be suspended, with plans to start a new climate change and disaster management course. A similar proposal is considered to be the connecting program of the European Championship in solar energy with the energy engineering program offered by the mechanical department of College of Engineering, Guindy.
Newly introduced M.Sc. The Multimedia course in Visual Communication offered by the Department of Media Sciences also came under the scanner due to poor sponsorship, but a member of the faculty opposed any step towards suspension of the program.
“The aim of restructuring is aimed at strengthening academic research and innovative ecosystem offered by various institutions at Anna University and improving its global evaluation,” said J. Prakash, University registrar, Hindu. “We have taken several steps to improve our evaluation of our world QS university from 383 this year to get to the next year, as entrusted with the government. Restructuring of courses is one of the steps,” he added.
