Animal sacrifice prohibited at Bishtadevi fair in Khanapur

The Belagavi district administration has banned animal sacrifice during the Kakkari Sri Bishtadevi fair in Khanapur taluk, when Ayudha Puja and Vijayadasami are celebrated from Monday to Wednesday.

This follows a request from the President of the World Animal Welfare Council and Animal Sacrifice Eradication Awareness Maha Sangha Sri Dayanand Swamiji.

Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Roshan directed the officials concerned to take steps to ensure proper implementation of the order, the report said.
