Hyderabad-based industrialist Anil Reddy Vennam has taken over as president of the All India Plastic Manufacturers Association (AIPMA) for a one-year term (2026-27) after being unanimously elected.

He is the first from the Telugu state to become the president and take charge of the association in Bombay. Mr Reddy, who was earlier a senior vice-president, said he intended to make his tenure “a year of action”. Emphasis will be placed on greater public awareness, recycling and circulation, boosting exports, improving the competitiveness of MSMEs and working closely with governments.

“My immediate task will be to restore public confidence in plastics. There are good and bad uses for plastics. The future of the industry depends on promoting the right applications, encouraging recycling and finding productive uses for plastic waste,” he said in a statement on Thursday.

Established in 1945, AIPMA is one of India’s oldest and largest organizations representing the plastics industry. It has more than 22,000 members in more than 175 cities through direct membership and 27 affiliated associations.

Almost 90% of AIPMA’s membership is from MSMEs and represents a broad spectrum of the plastics sector, including polymer and machinery manufacturers, processors, mold and die manufacturers, traders, exporters, consultants and other industry stakeholders.

He said AIPMA will also explore the plastic waste recovery mission to promote technologies and applications that can convert plastic waste into useful products and economic value. It will work to support the development of plastic parks and integrated industrial clusters.
