According to 11Alive, on Monday, March 3, the family of the late Angie Stone issued an official statement. The outlet reports that the statement was shared via Weems, a law firm based in Atlanta.
“It’s with a heavy heart that the children of R&B singer Angie Stone, along with her extended family, want to thank everyone for their love and support during this incredibly difficult time. Angie was a role model for Black women and girls everywhere. She loved and uplifted the Black community through her hit song ‘Brotha.’ Angie was committed to giving back to her fans and the community through her foundation, ‘Angel Stripes, The Angie Stone Foundation.’ She lived and died doing what she loved most—music.”
The statement also mentioned that Stone was a member of the Zeta Phi Beta sorority and had recently enrolled in a ministry program to deepen her faith and share her love for God with others.
“Her love for God and her faith led her to a deep desire to share her beliefs and bring more people to Christ,” the statement added. Funeral arrangements for the late singer are currently being made.
Further Details About the Fatal Car Accident
As previously reported, Angie Stone tragically lost her life in a car accident after leaving a performance in Montgomery, Alabama. The accident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, March 1. According to AP News, the Alabama Highway Patrol stated that the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van carrying Stone and her team overturned on Interstate 65 before being struck by a 2021 Freightliner Cascadia truck.
The crash happened approximately 5 miles south of Montgomery city limits. Stone was pronounced dead at the scene, while the van’s driver and seven other passengers were hospitalized. As of Sunday, March 2, the accident remains under investigation.

As reported by The Shade Room, a Facebook account believed to belong to the singer’s daughter, Diamond Stone, shared a heartfelt message on March 1: “My mom is gone. [crying emojis]”
Later, the account posted another message: “Thank you for all the love today. I need time to decompress and process this loss.”
