
In a tragic incident, six boys died after drowning in a pit full of rainwater in the Kurnool district in Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday.
The incident occurred when six children floated in the pit after school hours.
According to the police, a group of seven children studying at the local school placed in a pit located about one km from their village.
“Six school boys drowned today in a gravel pit filled with rainwater in the aspari mandala in the Kurnool district,” PTI said.
Of the seven children, six entered the water and drowned, while one boy who stayed out had a alarm that the villagers plunged into place. The shepherd then helped get bodies from the pit, the police said.
After the incident, Chief Minister Andr Pradesh N. Chandrababu Naida expressed a deep shock over the death of six children.
He also assured the surviving family that the government would provide the necessary support and assistance.
Meanwhile, YSRCP chief Yagan Mohan Reddy expressed shock and grief over deaths.
He called on the State Government to extend the support and refer to the authorities to take the necessary measures to prevent the repetition of these incidents.

Two children drowned when swimming in a pond under the Bandhuakalan Police Station in the Sultanpur district, the police said on August 15.
According to the police, Ramkumar (14) and Vinay (15) graze on Thursday in the Bandhuakalan area when they decided to bathe in the pond behind the temple.
During the bathing, both teenagers waded into deep waters and drowned, the official said.
The Bandhukala police station, Dharambir Singh, said the bodies were caught from the pond using the locals and sent to the post mortem.
