In an orientation move to protect the environment, Andhra Pradesh has committed itself to a state without plastics without plastics within 5 June 2026. The Chief Secretary of the Municipal Administration and Development of the Cities, S. Sutesh Kumar, announced the decision during the program to be aware of the Secretariat officials on Friday. He emphasized the risks of the environment and health that represents plastics with one use, especially the growing threat of microplastics associated with diseases such as cancer.
As part of the mission mode, the government will ban plastic bottles, cups, plates, bags, stickers and carrying bags to the secretariat and replace them with environmentally friendly alternatives. RO plants are installed in all blocks that provide safe drinking water, and stainless steel bottles will be distributed to staff. Color-coded baskets will support efficient fixed waste management, he said.
The implementation is coordinated with the support of Swachh Andhra Corporation, which will perform an action plan within the secretariat. Employees were invited to fully cooperate in the success of this initiative.
