
Andhra Pradesh started the Swachha Andhra Awards – 2025 and became the first state in India to institutionalize annual prizes recognizing perfection in purity and hygiene. The awards announced by the government order of the Ministry for City Development and City Development will be presented every year at the level of state and districts.
The aim of the initiative that has been modeled on the Survekshan Awards Center Swachh is to transform cleanliness into a permanent movement with honor institutions, communities and individuals who have set new benchmarks. The state is already leading the Swarna Andhra – Swachha Andhra campaign, according to which every third Saturday is observed as the day of Swachha Andhra (SASA) with the active participation of citizens. Officials described new awards as a step beyond the campaign to raise awareness, building the ecosystem of recognition, motivation and responsibility.
S. Suesh Kumar, Main Secretary, Maud, said in categories, including municipalities, Gram Panchayats, Anganwadis and Residence Schools, a total of 52 state -level prizes and 1,421 prizes at the district level will be presented. NGOs and hygienists will also be recognized as “Warriors Swachhata Warriors”.
The first award ceremony will be held on October 2, 2025, which will coincide with the anniversary of the birth of Mahatma Gandhi, with the main minister awarding the state level awards. Officials said the program will strengthen morality, support innovations and insert cleanliness as a way of life in Andhra Pradesh.
