During his visit to the University of Melbourne in Australia, Andhra Pradesh HRD Minister Nara Lokesh interacted with the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Emma Johnston and urged partnership with Andhra Pradesh in AI, cyber security, IoT and quantum technology research and proposed joint centers for renewable energy, agriculture and healthcare innovation.
Mr. Lokesh called for collaboration with Acharya NG Ranga Agricultural University for research on sustainable agriculture and digital health.
On the fifth day of his tour of Australia, Mr Lokesh held a series of meetings with leading universities and government officials on Thursday, seeking strategic cooperation in technology, education, tourism and health for the sustainable development of the state.
As part of this, he met with Victoria’s Minister for Tourism, Sport and Environment Steve Dimopoulos and proposed cooperation on heritage tourism, climate-resilient coastal development, waste management and environmental certification. He invited Victorian expertise to promote Andhra Pradesh’s picturesque heritage sites like Papikondalu and Visakhapatnam beaches. He also proposed joint cricket and hockey training camps, sports science exchanges and adventure tourism cooperation for Araku and Pulicat modeled on Victoria’s Alpine National Park.
Mr Lokesh also visited the University of Tasmania (UTAS) where he met the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics) Prof. Natalie Brown and sought UTAS’s assistance in developing pharmacy and non-pharmacy curriculum, promoting digital health tools, telemedicine and student-faculty exchanges, and conducting collaborative studies on rural health care and water supply.
