This year, the government finalized the fees for postgraduate courses in five newly established government medical colleges – in Rajamahendravaram, Nandyal, Vizianagaram, Eluru and Machilipatnam.
According to a press release by the Ministry of Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare on Thursday, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu approved an annual fee of ₹30,000 for government quota, ₹9,000 for self-financing seats and ₹29,00,000 for NRI quota seats in these colleges.
It may be noted that for the academic year 2025-26, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has given permission for 60 PG seats in four courses in these five colleges. While Rajamahendravaram and Nandyal colleges will have 16 seats each, Vizianagaram and Machilipatnam colleges will have 12 seats each. Eluru College will have four PG seats.
As per NMC rules, 50% of PG seats fall under All India Quota and remaining 50% under State Quota. As per the 2017 rules introduced by the government, the seats under the state quota are categorized as advisor quota (50%), management quota (35%) and NRI quota (15%).
In private medical colleges, the sanctioned fee proposal for PG course is ₹4,96,800 for convention quota, ₹9,93,600 for management quota and ₹57,50,000 for NRI quota.
The MBBS admissions were completed in these five colleges in the academic year 2023–24 itself, but since the PG admission process started only after the first batch of MBBS students completed their degree, the YSRCP government did not finalize the PG course fee.
For MBBS course, the YSRCP government has fixed an annual fee of ₹15,000 for government quota, ₹12,00,000 for self-financing seats and ₹20,00,000 for NRI quota.
