Andhra Pradesh has emerged as a pioneer state in the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in medicine and healthcare, said Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare Minister Satya Kumar Yadav.

While participating in the grand finale of the MedTech Innovation Challenge organized on Tuesday (May 26, 2026) in Mangalagiri, the minister promoted artificial intelligence-based diagnostic tests, saying that they not only provide accurate results but also improve the speed of healthcare delivery and make these tests accessible to people.

The department launched the MedTech Challenge in November 2025 in collaboration with Ratan Tata Innovation Hub and AP Innovation Society to identify, evaluate and integrate innovative medical technologies that enhance the efficiency and reach of healthcare services.

Out of 297 applications from researchers and innovators, 18 were shortlisted to showcase their technologies in four categories at government hospitals across the state. On Tuesday, the Minister presented cash prizes to the winners in each category and also recognized the start-ups that achieved the best results.

Describing it as an important upgrade in health and medicine, the minister said AI can bring revolutionary changes in agriculture, education and social development sectors, but there must be an implementation strategy.

National Health Authority Joint Secretary Kiran Gopal, Shiv Kumar, Founder Swasth Alliance, Minister of State for Health Saurabh Gaur, Health and Family Commissioner G. Veerapandian, Director of Secondary Health KVN Chakradhara Babu and other officials participated in the programme.

The winners are: Solicit Technologies (AI-Powered Diagnostics category), Remidio Innovative Solutions Pvt Ltd (Portable Point-of-Care Testing category), CareNX Innovations (Smart Monitoring and Wearables category), Rejuven India in Remote Care and Telemedicine category.

Mr. Veerapandian also announced the details of eight other companies that stood first and second in four categories.
