Although PHC doctors started a hungry strike in Vijayawada 5 October 2025 (Sunday), the Health and Family Commissioner G. Veerapandian announced that the state government agreed to increase the service quota at clinical branches this year at 20% from the current 15%.
Mr. Veerapandian also announced that the quota, which was previously limited to seven clinical branches, now applies to all 15 branches.
The announcement came after the Commissioner organized a meeting with protesters of PHC in the office of the Public Health Director.
According to a press release of the Ministry, the Commissioner told PHC doctors that the government was working on solving their other requirements, including, among other things, the payouts of contributions, time -bound promotion.
October 1 October, PHC doctors informed that 15% of the quota would be applicable to all clinical branches.
However, when doctors continued to increase quota, the Minister for Health and Medical Education Satya Kumar Yadav announced the matter by the main Minister N. Chandrababa Naida, after which it was decided to increase it to 20%, said Mr. Veerapandian.
He added that orders for this sense would be released immediately and referred to doctors who have been on the strike from 29 September to restore the obligation.
Meanwhile, PHC doctors claimed that the quota should be determined for five years.
“We had to protest the previous year throughout the state to demand the increase in the chairs that were assigned to us in PG medical courses. We are also protesting this year.
AP PHC Doctors ‘spokesman’ Association Vinod Kumar said: “So far, we have demanded that the government meet its promise to repair the 20%quota, which was announced last year by the Minister of Health in an effort to reassure us after our protests.”
Doctors would therefore continue to strike until the government will ensure that they will not return to their word again, Dr. Vinod Kumar.
The same was the iterated at a meeting that allegedly upset the Commissioner.
According to the press release, the Commissioner stated that a comprehensive study was required to consider the extent of the implementation of 20% of the PHC doctor in the next 5 years.
‘Not feasible’
In Veerapandian, he explained to them the reasons why the government’s inability to maintain 20% of the quota said for a long time that a total of 1,089 doctors who studied PG courses via service quota would join government teachers between November 20 and November 2027 in various positions.
