
The Andhra Pradesh government has extended the deadline for submission of applications under the Layout Regulation Scheme (LRS) to January 23, 2026, giving property owners the last chance to bring all unapproved and unauthorized layouts in the planned development area.
The decision issued on Monday through GOMs.No.134 is aimed at promoting orderly urban growth and further strengthening the Andhra Pradesh Rules for Regulation of Unapproved Layouts and Lands for 2020.
As many as 40,872 new applications have been received through the LRS portal since the scheme reopened in July 2025, according to Directorate of Town and Country Planning (DT&CP) data. The government has also directed all urban development authorities (UDAs) and urban local bodies (ULBs) to proactively prepare individual applications in principle, even in areas where no layout patterns (IPs) have been filed. that no unauthorized arrangement is left outside the scope of planning.
Principal Secretary (MA&UD) S. Suresh Kumar described the initiative as a “structural reform of urban administration” aimed at converting every unsanctioned colony into a legally recognized service-ready community. He said the revised framework simplifies compliance, ensures time-bound approvals and integrates citizen convenience with transparency and sustainable urban growth across Andhra Pradesh.
