Andhra Pradesh CM aims to complete 5.52 lakh houses by March 2027

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has directed the Housing Department to implement the ‘Housing for All’ program by 2029 on a saturation basis and provide a safe and permanent house to every eligible family in the state.

Reviewing the functioning of the housing department at his camp office on Tuesday, Mr Naidu set a target of completing 5.52 lakh houses by March 2027. He directed officials to ground houses under various schemes, including Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin and PM Janman, by next month.

The Chief Minister ordered that 1.5 million houses be built in urban areas. He asked officials to complete 2.05 million houses by December 2026 and another 2.74 million houses by March 2027 to be ready for approval.

Officials informed Mr. Naidu that 18.72 lakh houses have been sanctioned under PMAY 1.0, PMAY 2.0 and PM Janman, of which 13.20 lakh have been completed. Under Andhra Pradesh Housing Corporation, 11.31 million out of 16.11 million sanctioned houses have been completed while AP TIDCO has completed 1.88 million out of 2.61 million sanctioned houses.

Mr Naidu directed officials to ensure sanction for 75,000 new houses by December 2027 and bring another 1.5 million houses in the pipeline in collaboration with the Union Ministries of Rural Development and Housing and Urban Affairs.

The Chief Minister called for integration of data from RTGS, Awaas Plus, Housing and Revenue departments to identify homeless families and eliminate duplication. Preliminary lists of beneficiaries should be published at the secretariats of municipalities and sections. Objections should be invited and dealt with transparently before the final lists are prepared, he said.

He directed the officials to reorganize the unused land in the existing layouts into two or three cent plots whenever needed and map the eligible beneficiaries to the vacant sites. According to him, construction work should be continuously monitored.

Mr. Naidu also directed officials to introduce saturation housing in Kuppam constituency.

Industrial town

The Chief Minister asked the Housing Ministry to look into the construction of industrial estates in various parts of the state with the help of the Central Government. He said urban districts in industrial regions, including Sri City, could boost economic activity.

He directed the department to coordinate with the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) for municipal development.

The review meeting was attended by Housing Minister Kolusu Parthasarathy and senior officials of the Housing and Finance Ministries.
