The Andhra Pradesh government introduced extensive reforms of industrial regulations, reduced parking requirements, and released land use standards to improve the ease of business and attract new investments.
S. Suesh Kumar, the main secretary of the city administration and department of city development, said that the state reduced the parking mandate for industrial areas from 20% to 10%, bringing it to harmony with the standards of Telangana for separate industrial units. For the layout approved by Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC), parking will be provided through conventional associated devices in the planning phase, eliminating the need for individual units to create separate parking if shared capacity is sufficient.
Other key changes include the reduction of side and rear failures, the requirements for minimal land size for industrial purposes and relaxation or removal of height restrictions to support vertical construction. Officials stated that these measures are to optimize the use of land, lower compliance costs and eliminate narrow places that prevented production, especially for micro, small and medium -sized enterprises (MSME).
Reforms monitor comparative studies of parking standards in other countries and are in line with the “Special Aid Scheme to States for Capital Investments 2025-26”, which supports rationalized standards for industrial and commercial projects.
