The “city of fate” added another feather to the cap. The International Criket Council (ICC) announced the Women’s Women’s World Championship in the ICC 2025 cricket, scheduled for 30 September, and Visakhapatnam’s Dr YSR ACA-VDCA The International Cricket Stadium was selected as one of the four Indian places to host the matches. It refers to Andr Pradesh’s return to host the game at the cricket world after 28 years.
Other Indian cities selected as match sites are Bengaluru, Indore and Guwahati, while Colombo in Sri Lanka will be a co -founder of the tournament.
The tournament will start in Bengaluru 30 September, with the final scheduled 2 November in Bengalur or Colombo.
In addition to host India, the tournament will participate in the defense of Champions Australia, Bangladesh, Pakistan, England, Sri Lanka, New Zealand and South Africa.
While the Indians are looking for their first title, Aussies were the most successful team with seven wins.
It will be the fourth time when India hosts the ICC World Court, after it had previously hosted it in 1978, 1997 and 2013. The upcoming edition means the return of the tournament to Indian land after 12 years. During the last edition held in 2013, India finished fifth while Australia introduced on the tile.
Although Visakhapatnam had never driven the Women’s Women’s match at the World Cup, in 1996 he hosted the Men’s ICC World Cup between Australia and Kenya. Australia beat Kenya of 97 runs.
Meanwhile, the last match of the 1997 women’s championship at Indira Gandhi in Vijayawada, between England and Pakistan, in which England defeated Pakistan by 230 runs.
Although India hosted the main events of ICC, such as the ODI World Championship in 2011, the 2013 World Championship, the 2016 World Championship and the ODI World Cup, Andhra Pradesh had no opportunity to host another world championship.
Massive renovation
International cricket stadium Dr. YSR ACA VDCA in PM Palm was reconstructed in February this year with a budget of 40 Crore Association (ACA). The entrance arch and the whole building were reconstructed with a new design.
The old halogen lights were replaced by LED lights. A device for players and spectators was improved. The toilets were upgraded and increased from 54 to 250. The number of elevators and lifts was increased. The interiors of the stadium were also redesigned by new sports designs. Lighting, air conditioning. Firefighting was upgraded. The stadium successfully hosted two Indian Premier League (IPL) matches.
Minister Aca Sana Satish Kumar thanked ICC chairman Jay Shah and BCCi for choosing a stadium as a match venue. During his recent visit to the Visakhapatnam stadium, Mr. Shah appreciated the renovation efforts and assured that the venue would be provided more opportunities to organize matches.
“The Visag Stadium offers some of the best devices for players and spectators in South India, second only at the Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengalur. Visakhapatnam now appears as a pioneer for cricket matches,” he said.
