SRIKAKULAM:
Andhra Pradesh GST Officers and Employees Association Honorary President Chowdary Purushottam Naidu on Sunday asked all officers and employees to fully support the government in effective implementation of tax reforms and use of artificial intelligence and data analytics in tax collection. He alleged that several officials from other associations were trying to tarnish the image of the government as well as Chief Commissioner of AP GST Wing Babu Ahmed, who was credited with optimal use of technology in tax collection.
Speaking to the media, Mr. Purushottam Naidu said that the use of technology has resulted in a tax collection of ₹ 3,361 crore in March 2026, despite the significant downward revision of GST tables by the Union government six months ago. “A few officers and employees with vested interests are creating unrest among others after being denied promotion due to certain procedures. Individual complaints cannot be used as an excuse to tarnish the image of the government,” he added.
Mr. Purushottam said that Mr. Babu Ahmed had ensured that all officials collected tax arrears from industrial enterprises and business houses in the last few years. “A few officials who are not interested in performing their duties are fueling the agitation in the ministry. It is not right to disrupt the government as it needs proper tax collections for effective implementation of social and development programs in the state,” he added.
State Vice President of APNGOs Association Rayi Venugopal said that the association will not interfere in the government’s policy regarding transfers, tax collection and other matters. He said that the leaders of most of the associations presented a petition to Mr. Babu Ahmed of Amaravati regarding the genuine grievances of the employees while ensuring full support for effective tax collection in semi-urban and rural areas as well.
