PMK leader Anbumani Ramadoss on Friday slammed the state government and the police for attacking teachers who were protesting for “equal pay for equal work” for the eighth day in Chennai.
He said in a statement that no state government had a history of staying in power for forcing teachers to protest for equal pay.
“The protesting teachers were arrested in groups. Similarly, during yesterday’s protest, some teachers were brutally attacked by the police. DMK government’s crackdown on teachers protesting for justice is condemnable,” he said.
“When the DMK was in opposition, it supported this demand. In his election manifesto for the 2021 assembly elections, Mr. Stalin promised (No. 311) that if the DMK comes to power, the wage gap for teachers will be resolved,” he pointed out.
