PMK leader Anbumani Ramadoss, who was re-elected to the Rajya Sabha on Monday, called Chief Minister MK Stalin “a modern avatar of Emperor Nero who played the violin while Rome was burning” after the brutal murder of two persons sleeping in a house in Tirusulam near Pallavaram in Chennai and the sexual murder of an elderly man and his wife as U Krisgari in U Krisgari district.
Dr. In a statement, Anbumani said the DMK government was in a celebratory mood though law and order had largely deteriorated, pointing to the murders of an autorickshaw driver in Manamadurai in Sivaganga district and Sivakumar of Gummidipoondi area.
“In Tamil Nadu, wherever one looks – east, west, north or south – there are murders and robberies. There has been an increase in sexual assaults. None of the murders that have taken place in the last 24 hours have been sudden, emotionally driven murders. They have all been murders carried out in a planned manner and under the influence of alcohol. If the police functioned under the influence of alcohol, the police could be vigilant, the government could be vigilant, just watching without the ability to prevent these murders,” he said.
Dr. Anbumani also pointed out that elderly people living alone in farms have been murdered recently and added that people will pass judgment on DMK in the upcoming assembly elections.
