Superintendent of Police P Jagadeesh on Wednesday said legal action would be taken against Telugu Desam Party leader JC Prabhakar Reddy for his remarks against Additional SP Rohith Kumar Chowdary. Terming Reddy’s comments as “intimidating and defamatory”, Mr Jagadeesh said they were unacceptable, adding that Reddy’s gun license would be scrutinized and action would be taken as per law.
During the Police Martyrs’ Memorial event on October 21, Mr Reddy accused Additional SP Rohith of lacking “wisdom and competence” and alleged that the officer was “hiding at home” during the Tadipatri protest. Senior police officers said such personal attacks could demoralize police officers who maintain law and order.
