An NIA team visits an army camp amid an investigation into missing firearms

A National Investigation Agency (NIA) team visited the compound of 20 Madras Regiment at Bollarum, Secunderabad Cantonment on Friday (September 4, 2026) as investigators continued to probe the disappearance of 12 firearms and ammunition from an army installation.

The team visited the crime scene and met the investigators inside the Cantonment. The visit comes as the investigation widened, with army personnel, including Agniveers, sepoys and others who had access to the compound, being questioned. Military Intelligence and several units of the Telangana Police are also assisting in the investigation.

Firearms were reported missing after Kote and Battalion magazine locks were found broken on 31 August. The weapons were last physically seized on the evening of August 30. Police ruled out Agniveers’ involvement in the theft.

The investigation is being conducted within the defense domain, with officials maintaining secrecy, citing the sensitive nature of the case and national security concerns.
