Residents said the initiative allowed them to vote without the stress of caring for their children.
Ruman N. was relieved to find a children’s play area at the Anna Nagar Model polling station where she went to vote during Thursday’s council elections. As a mother of twins, she was worried about the care of her children when she voted. . “My husband came earlier in the day and did not see the area. When I came later with my parents, I was happy to see the children’s corner in the polling station. I was stressed in the morning and wondered how I would handle them,” she said.
She waited on the playground for her parents to finish voting so she could cast her vote while her mother watched the children. The playground had about eight horses with wheels and a swing, the little kids loved seeing it, many dragging their parents to try it out.
