The family health center at Edamalakkudy, located in the state’s first tribal panchayat near Munnar in Idukki, has successfully installed an e-health system, Health Minister Veena George said.
According to the minister, an e-health team from the Ministry of Health recently visited the center to ensure staff were trained on the new digital framework. In a formal statement, the Minister said that Edamalakkudy Hospital is moving to a paperless facility. “The UHID cards have already been distributed to residents, which is a historic achievement,” the minister said.
Officials noted that Edamalakkuda patients can now schedule online appointments at Adimaly Taluk Hospital, District Hospital or Medical College Hospital directly from their local health centre. Based on these orders, patients will be given priority care upon arrival. In addition, patients no longer need to carry physical treatment records, as their medical history will be digitally accessible both at the district hospital and at the medical school.
The electronic healthcare equipment was installed by a team led by another project director, Dr. Mahesh, joint directors Dr. Ronjon and Akhila Raj, Idukki District Project Engineer Shinu Thomas and Technical Officer Vishnu.
