An Australian university invites Singareni to enter critical minerals exploration

HYDERABAD
A delegation from Monash University, Melbourne, Australia met with senior executives of Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) and invited the mining company to explore opportunities for collaboration in Australia, particularly in the area of uncovering critical mineral resources.
Monash University Dean (Engineering) Prof. Yiannis Ventikos led the MU delegation and they met SCCL Chairman and Managing Director Buddhaprakash Jyothi, Directors Gowtham Potru (Personnel and Finance), LV Suryanarayana (Operations), K. Venkateshwarla (Projects and Planning) and others.
The delegation said Australia was interested in fostering partnerships with international organizations in the critical minerals sector and invited Singareni, who has extensive mining experience, to explore mutually beneficial partnerships.
They observed that demand for critical minerals is growing globally and said Monash University is poised to provide technical expertise in advanced technologies, environmentally sustainable mining practices and commercially viable strategic business initiatives in the sector.
They further highlighted Monash University’s expertise in research, education, industry collaboration and the transformation of research results into commercially viable technology solutions. She said the university was collaborating with industries and research institutions across the world in various sectors.
The meeting primarily focused on the growing global importance of critical minerals and the opportunities offered in their exploration, extraction, processing and refining, as well as the production of value-added products. The Monash University delegation also explained the potential for additional value creation through downstream processing and refining rather than limiting raw mineral extraction operations.
Singareni officials made a PowerPoint presentation on the company’s activities, including coal mining, thermal and solar power generation, and exploration for gold and copper deposits in Karnataka.
