A low pressure area is likely to form over the Bay of Bengal on October 21, according to a report from the Cyclone Warning Center (CWC) in Visakhapatnam.
In a report issued on October 19, 2025 (Sunday), the meteorologist warned of rain activity at isolated places from October 20 (Deepavali).
An upper air cyclonic circulation persists over the South Andaman Sea and adjacent Southeast Bay of Bengal, extending up to 1.5 km above mean sea level. Under its influence, a low pressure area is likely to form over the southeast Bay of Bengal around October 21.
During the next 48 hours, it is likely to move west-northwest and intensify into a depression over central parts of South Bay of Bengal and adjoining West-West Bay of Bengal.
“Increased rain activity is likely over Andhra Pradesh and Yanam coast on October 23 and 24 under its influence,” the report added.
Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely at most places in coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam till October 20. Thunderstorms are likely at isolated places in coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely at one or two places in Guntur, Bapatla, Prakasam and Sri Potti Sriramulu Nellore districts of coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam. Heavy rainfall is likely at one or two places in Srikakulam, Parvathipuram-Manyam, Vizianagaram, Alluri Sitharama Raju, Kakinada, Dr. BR Ambedkar Konaseema, East Godavari, West Godavari, Eluru, NTR, Krishna and Tirupati and Yanam.
Between October 20 and 21, light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is likely to occur at a few places in North Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam. Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely at many places in south coastal Andhra Pradesh. Thunderstorm is likely at isolated places in coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam.
