According to sources, an Air India plane came in front of an IndiGo plane on the same taxiway at Ahmedabad airport after the Air India plane took a wrong turn while taxiing towards the parking bay on Wednesday (June 24, 2026) evening.

IndiGo said the two planes stopped at a safe distance from each other.

The Mumbai-bound IndiGo flight was preparing to take off when the Air India plane made a wrong turn, leaving the two planes about 200 meters apart on the same taxiway, sources said.

“We are aware of the incident where our flight AI 2493 flying from Mumbai to Ahmedabad on June 24 inadvertently turned while taxiing after landing,” Air India said in a statement.

The airline also said that there was no compromise on the safety of passengers and crew and that the plane was subsequently towed back to its parking spot.

“The matter has been reported to regulatory authorities and an investigation has been launched,” the airline said.

Both aircraft were narrow-body A320s.

IndiGo said its flight 6E 5160, which is scheduled to fly from Ahmedabad to Mumbai, was briefly delayed while taxiing for departure after another airline’s aircraft inadvertently made a wrong turn and was in the path of our aircraft.

“Both the aircraft stopped at a safe distance from each other. The second aircraft was subsequently towed away and our flight departed safely and landed at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai,” the airline said.

According to IndiGo, the relevant authorities were immediately informed.

Details of the number of passengers on board the two planes could not be ascertained.
