Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham hosts Rashtriya Sankalp Samaroh in Amaravati

Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham Amaravati Campus hosted Rashtriya Sankalp Samaroh on Sunday (September 20, 2026) as part of the nationwide ‘100 Weeks Nasha Mukt Yuva Abhiyan’.

Students and faculty members participated in the signature campaign and pledged to build a drug-free society. The program aimed to raise awareness of substance abuse and encourage young people to adopt healthy lifestyles and promote this message in their communities.

Ake Ravi Krishna, IGP, Elite Anti-Narcotics Group for Law Enforcement (EAGLE), Andhra Pradesh; KM Maheswara Raju, Superintendent of Police, EAGLE; K Venkat Uzwal, State Director, MY Bharat, Andhra Pradesh; and MS Vijayendra, Executive Director attended the programme. Also present were Dr. CK Jayasankar, Associate Dean of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham’s Amaravati campus, and Dr. Prasada Kumari, Chief Executive Officer.

Speakers at the event emphasized that enforcement measures should be complemented by sustained awareness, early intervention, counseling and community participation. They urged students to remain vigilant against narcotics and to support peers who may be prone to addiction.

Launched at the national level by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan seeks to mobilize youth against substance abuse through pledge ceremonies, awareness programs and community outreach. The centenary campaign is supported by MY Bharat, an initiative of the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.

The program at the Amaravati campus was organized in collaboration with MY Bharat, EAGLE Andhra Pradesh and AYUDH, the three youth wings of Mata Amritanandamayi Math.
