Manchester manager United Ruben Amorim confirmed that Altay Bayindir will start at a weekend derby goal against City and after moving Andre Onana on the Turkish side of Trabzonspor. Amorim emphasized the need for a change in the goalkeeper department and also dealt with three injuries affecting the team’s selection before the premier League clash in Old Trafford.
Bayindir, who had previously joined United earlier, will keep his place between contributions and Senne Lammens will prepare for his debut. Amorim, who addressed the media at a press conference before the match, said “Altay will continue. It’s a different league, another country, different training, a different ball. So we will try to keep it and they will fight for this position, but it is clear to me in this game that it is really strong.
Amorim elaborated the transfer of United in the goalkeeper department and outlined the immediate and long -term considerations. “We are also at the moment we have to look at the present, but also with a focus on the future – so it’s a bit of both. He’s a great potential that is one more option (for us) and will be ready. Lammens, a young Belgian shot, joined United as part of this future strategy, but derby will not start.
Amorim explained Andre Onana’s departure and was honest about the need for a new approach in Old Trafford. He noted, “I think we understood that it requires a change, and sometimes it is difficult to point out why. Sometimes it is a moment, bad luck at some times. It’s hard for him, our thinking is to change in the goalkeeper, but I wish the best for Andre Onan.
Selection calls for derby have deepened with confirmation that Matheus Cunha, Mason Mount and Diogo Dalot will be unavailable due to injuries. AMORIM said, “They’re out for this game, I don’t know how long it will take. We need these guys to be a competitive team. We have very good players who want to play, so we’ll be competitive on Sunday. But they’re out.”
Cunha was forced in the first half of Burnley’s victory before an international break with Hamstring, while Mount did not return to the second half. Dalot, who played for 90 minutes on the left wing against Clarets, later withdrew from the Portuguese team during an international break due to discomfort.
