Ammonia gas leak: Death toll rises to 18

The death toll from an ammonia leak at a seafood processing and export facility in Tiruvallur district last month rose to 18, with one more hospitalized migrant worker dying on Friday (July 3, 2026).

In a bulletin, the health department identified the latest victim as Rohani Juanga of Kendujhar, Odisha. There are currently 14 women undergoing treatment – ​​each on ventilator and oxygen support and 12 stable. A total of 51 people have been released so far.
