AMMK leader Dhinakaran criticizes ‘undeclared cargo dumping’ in Tamil Nadu

TTV Dhinakaran Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) general secretary on Saturday said there was “undeclared dumping of cargo” in Tamil Nadu, prompting people to resort to agitations.

In a post on social media, Mr. Dhinakaran said the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK)-led government, which has been in office for more than 120 days, has not addressed the problem of lack of electricity, a basic need of the people. Instead of taking steps to ensure uninterrupted supply, the minister in question was “digging up time-barred charges” and re-opening “closed chapters”, which was reprehensible.

Mr. Dhinakaran urged the state government and the power department to ensure that power cuts are ended and people get uninterrupted supply.

On the treatment of women in Chennai

In another post, he referred to a video purportedly showing police personnel manhandling two women, including a lawyer, at Chennai’s RK Nagar police station, which had gone viral. Mr. Dhinakaran expressed shock at the incident and wanted the government to take action against the concerned officials.

Following reports that principals of government and government-aided schools were asked to bear the cost of starting the expansion of the Perunthalaivar Kamarajar Breakfast program on September 17, the AMMK leader urged the government to drop the move.
