Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) Founder and Chidambarama MP Thol. Thirumavalavan demanded on Wednesday that the Minister of the Interior of the Union AMIT Shah resigned from his post after 26 tourists were killed in a terrorist attack in Pahalgam in Kashmir.
In his statement, he condemned the attack and said that people Jamm and Kashmir were denied their basic rights even after the elections were made in 2024, and claimed that the incident would throw light on the complete failure of the Indian state intelligence and security apparatus.
“Many political leaders are maintained for domestic arrests. However, the Modi government claims that democracy and peace have fully returned to Jammu and Kashmir. When the Minister of the Union Amit Shah went to Jamm and Kashmir a few days ago, the terrorism was completely excluded.
When the attacks in Mumbai occurred in 2008, the then Interior Minister Shivraj Patil resigned to responsibility and similarly Mr. Shah should also take responsibility and resign from his post.
Mr. Thirumavalavan said the Union’s government must respond to General GD Bakshi’s criticism, who claimed that a reduction in military staff of almost 1.8 Lakh and the deployment of the same group to monitor two regions has contributed to a recent terrorist incident.
“Not only in Kashmir, BJP has also destroyed peace into manipuro and has turned it into a violent jungle. The Union government must take preventive steps to ensure that such attacks do not occur in the future, and AMIT Shah should resign immediately,” he said.
