Modi Govt dealt another death blow to drugs with Operation Trident. On October 23, our agencies launched a flurry of simultaneous raids at 38 locations in Assam, Mizoram and Manipur, busting an international drug cartel. The operation uncovered hawala transactions worth ₹100 crore, froze 1,424 bank accounts, seized property worth ₹17.82 crore, seized 500 detonators and ₹12 crore in cash and led to the arrest of 18 people. The network traded narcotics across the borders of India, Myanmar and Bangladesh through the Triangle of Death corridor. The offensive shows India’s Himalayan resolve to carry out the mission to eradicate every drug network by December 31, 2029. India will pound until the last nail is hammered into the coffin of the drug cartels. My heartiest congratulations to the anti-narcotics team comprising of central agencies and tri-state police forces.
