
A former teacher at the top charter school in the US ‘Michigan was charged with third -degree criminal sexual behavior after charging of a sexual relationship with a 16 -year -old student. Jocelyn Sanroman, 26, who was taught at the Oakside Prep Academy in Waterford Township, allegedly admitted the relationship with his colleague in 2023. The colleague then pointed out the authorities by clicking on Detroit.
The prosecutors said that Sanroman misused his position of trust and authority by engaging in an illegal relationship. “This defendant is accused of using his position of authorization to use a smaller victim. These accusations are the final violation of the confidence embedded in teachers by a parent and community,” said Karen McDonald’s prosecutor.
“As a former teacher, I applaud the teacher who contacted the police about this situation and protected other students from further exploitation,” she added.
If it was found guilty, Sanroman could face up to 15 years in prison based on accusations of third -degree criminal sexual behavior.
Oakside Prep Academy, known for its focus on academic perfection and moral value, called the accusation “worrying” and said that rapid measures were taken. In its statement Fox 2, the school said: “We try to provide a safe and supportive educational environment for students entrusted to our care. Their safety and well -being remain our highest priority.”
According to recent reports, more than 500 cases of improper teachers’ behavior were reported between 2014 and 2019, with almost one of the ten students experienced a form of a sexual offense.
Experts report several contributing factors, including increased awareness and reporting, inappropriate use of social media, blurry borders of teachers and students, weak hiring and screening processes, and insufficient training in ethics and professional behavior.
