49. The release of Macy’s 4th July. July for American Independence Day is set to illuminate the Panorama of New York on Friday (July 4), with a spectacle launched from the iconic Brooklyn Bridge and four surrounding boats on East River.
This year’s display will contain more than 80,000 shells exploding in 30 different colors and dozens of dazzling effects, including a cracking crown jellyfish, atomic rings and comet fans, reaching up to 1,000 feet. The show will also include the latest design mapping on the Brooklyn Bridge itself.
Free public tracking and security measures
Viewers can enjoy fireworks from any area with intact views of the Lower East. Prime public viewing zones will be set up along the elevated parts of the FDR unit with access points on:
- Montgomery Street on Madison Street
- Robert F. Wagner S. Set
- Broad Street on Water Street
Ada-accessible monitoring will be available on the Murry Bergraum softball course.
For safety reasons, alcohol, backpacks, lawn chairs, large bags, coolers, umbrellas, drones, cigarettes and weapons are forbidden. All participants are subject to NYPD screening.
When and how to look
The television broadcast will begin at 20:00 et on NBC and Stream Live on Peacock, with fireworks it is expected to ignite around 21:45 and last about 30 minutes.
