The Pathanamthitta Main Court found on Thursday that Noufu from Kayamculam guilty of rape of 19-year-old patient COVID-19 inside the ambulance. The quantum sentence will be expressed later.
The incident occurred in September 2020, when a young woman was transported to Covid-19. Noufal, who was assigned as an ambulance driver, deviated from the designated route and went to a detached area where he sexually attacked the patient.
Video evidence
After the attack, the accused apologized to the survivor before throwing it in the nursing center. However, she recorded a video of his apology, which in this case became a decisive proof.
After reaching the center, the estate revealed its suffering to the present medical officials, who in turn warned the police. On the basis of her statement, the police traceded Noufal and took him into custody.
The case caused extensive outrage of the public, mainly due to the alleged violation of the protocol by the district medical office when sending a patient unaccompanied in an ambulance.
