Sergio Gor, the United States ambassador to India, said on Wednesday that Washington places immense value on its “growing partnership” with Delhi, adding that it remains committed to further strengthening bilateral relations.
Gore’s remarks came as he expressed excitement about the upcoming visit by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. In a post on X, Gor referred to Rubio as a “good friend” and emphasized the strategic weight the US places on its relationship with India.
US Ambassador Gor on Rubio’s visit to India
The US ambassador wrote: “I look forward to welcoming my good friend Secretary Rubio to India! The United States deeply values our growing partnership with India and we are excited to build even stronger ties that will benefit our nations and the world. See you soon, Minister!”
In an interview with the country’s main 24-hour public service station, Gor confirmed that preparations for the Quad dialogue are in full swing.
Noting that Rubio is eager to experience India’s diversity, he said, “We look forward to having a ministerial-level Quad meeting in India. It will be the minister’s first visit to the country, and he is interested in visiting not only Delhi but other places. India is vital to us and an incredible partner. The president also shares a strong relationship with your prime minister.”

Rubio will visit India on his first official visit
This diplomatic contact precedes a series of significant bilateral and multilateral commitments. Rubio is expected to travel to India this month, his first official visit to the country since taking over as US secretary of state.
Rubio’s participation in the ministerial-level Quad meeting to be hosted by India is expected to be the main focus of the mission.
American-Indian ties
He also described the current trajectory of the partnership between Washington and Delhi as being on an “incredible foundation”. Separately, he indicated that significant breakthroughs are on the horizon.
Gor, who recently visited Washington for consultations with senior members of US President Donald Trump’s administration, suggested that “big items” related to bilateral cooperation are likely to be revealed in the near future.
“I just got back from Washington where I met with the whole cabinet, so we have some big ticket items that will be announced over the next few days, over the next few weeks,” he noted.
He also shed light on the personal relationship between Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, highlighting the frequency of their communications.

Gor noted that Prime Minister Modi and Trump have engaged in several discussions this year, pointing out that “they’ve actually spoken a few more times this year. Obviously not every conversation will become public. But they just had a phone call in the last hour.”
