
The authorities decided to temporarily stop AMARNATH YATRA on July 30 from the base camps Pahalgam and Baltal after continuous heavy rainfall.
The pilgrimage to be scheduled for August 9 was temporarily suspended as a preventive measure. In the paper on X, Jammu and Kashmir Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), he said: “Shri Amarnathji Yatra has paused for one day from Pahalgam and Baltal.”
The divisional commissioner Kashmir Vijay Kumar Bidhuri said: “Yatra was not released from the base camps, Baltal and Nunwan/Chandanwari due to heavy, continuous rains since early morning 30.07.2025.”
According to the report, approximately 3,93 Lakh pilgrims have already visited the sanctuary of the Holy Cave during the Shri Amarnathji Yatra 2025.
The divisional commissioner for Jammu, Ramesh Kumar, also issued a statement that informs that the ongoing amarnath yatra convoy will not move from Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu, July 31 with respect to unfavorable weather conditions on Yatra routes.
The statement is: “Given the heavy rains of the Yatra area, the movement of pilgrims from the basic camps was influenced. Therefore, it was decided that no convoy movement would be assigned to Baltal and Nunwan of Bhagwati Nagar Jammu.
Holy AmarNath is located at an altitude of 3,888 meters in South Kashmir and attracts thousands of devotees every year. Pilgrims set out on a 14 -kilometer Baltal route or a less steep and traditional 48 kilometer Pahalgam route for their pilgrimage.
