Andhra Pradesh IT and Human Resource Development Minister Nara Lokesh said on Saturday that Amaravati is laying the foundation for India’s leadership in quantum technology by launching the ambitious Amaravati Quantum Valley (AQV) project.
After Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology Jitendra Singh performed the ‘bhumi puja’ for the project, Mr. Lokesh described the initiative as a defining moment that would transform Andhra Pradesh from a technology consumer to a global creator of frontier innovations.
He said Amaravati Quantum Valley will create large-scale, high-quality and future-ready jobs for the youth and place Amaravati among the world’s top quantum hubs.
Fourteen companies have signed a memorandum of understanding with the state government to set up operations at AQV that would integrate hardware, software, algorithms, research, training and exports at a single location.
Minister of State for Rural Development Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar said that Amaravati is being built not just with infrastructure but with future technologies. He noted that quantum computing is emerging as a multi-billion dollar global sector and that India, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is making rapid progress through the National Quantum Mission. He said Andhra Pradesh’s efforts to build a quantum center will boost applications in healthcare, energy, finance and supply chains while creating a strong talent pipeline.
Sandip Patel, Managing Director of IBM for India and South Asia, said that IBM looks forward to bringing advanced quantum computing technology to Amaravati, which will enable researchers, academia and enterprises to access cutting-edge capabilities and lead to breakthroughs across the industry.
