The rivalry between Aman Gupta and Anupam Mittal took center stage once again in the latest episode of Shark Tank India Season 5, with Aman’s sharp remark on air quickly going viral.
The face-off developed during a race for Twin, an artificial intelligence fashion app that allows users to create a virtual avatar and try on clothes digitally using their existing wardrobe. The startup was founded by Gurugram-based entrepreneur Aseem Khanduja and launched in June 2025 under his company Unstudio.
Aseem, an IIT Delhi graduate who has spent nearly eight years working in the AI space, said he previously founded an edtech startup called Strive, which counted Anupam Mittal among its investors. He later left the business due to vision differences.
He was looking for Aseem for Twin ₹60 lakhs for 1% equity, valuing the company at ₹60 million crowns. After testing the app, Aman Gupta seemed impressed and called the product “excellent”, while Kanika Tekriwal praised the concept, especially from the user’s perspective. However, Kunal Bahl and Mohit Yadav expressed reservations about the scalability and sustainability of the business model.
While the founder pointed out that Twin has already signed deals with 25 Indian brands, Kunal questioned whether the idea could evolve beyond functionality into a viable business. Mohit repeated similar concerns and eventually backed out of the contract.
Aman Gupta was the first to make an offer and propose ₹60 lakhs for 3% equity. Anupam Mittal countered ₹68 lakhs for 2%, saying his experience and understanding of the space could help the startup significantly. Responding to Anupam’s offer, Kanika said that she invests in products that she personally uses.
As negotiations intensified, the founder revised his valuation to ₹40 million crowns. Anupam then raised his bid to ₹80 lakhs for 2% equity which Aman and Kanika also matched.
It was at this point that an exchange between Aman and Anupam caught the attention of the audience. As Anupam talked about his access to a user base of over five million, Aman interrupted him with a shout-out that quickly became the standout moment of the episode:
“Shaadi ka database thodi chahiye hai, lehenge thodi bikenge iss par,” he said, dismissing the relevance of Shaadi.com’s user data to the fashion-tech app.
The comment drew laughter from the set and underscored the lingering tension between the two Sharks this season.
Finally, Aseem decided to go ahead with Aman Gupta’s offer. While thanking Anupam, he said that he would like to work with him again. A visibly disappointed Anupam replied, “How can I help you if you don’t accept the deal?”
The episode has since created chatter online, with viewers reacting strongly to the heated exchange and growing rivalry between Aman Gupta and Anupam Mittal on Shark Tank India 5.
