Criticism of government actions or policies is not only permissible but necessary in a parliamentary democracy, the Allahabad High Court on Friday dismissed a petition seeking registration against Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi over his alleged remark that he was involved in a “fight against the Indian state”.
A single judge, Justice Vikram D. Chauhan, upheld the lower court’s order rejecting the application to register a criminal case against Mr. Gandhi.
